Why DHA?
I am a firm believer in the importance of a good DHA with EPA vitamin for kids.
According to VeryWellMind
” DHA is essential for neurological and visual development, DHA supplements are thought to enhance brain function and vision in children. In addition, DHA supplements are purported to treat certain health problems in children, such as allergies, asthma, and attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). “
The Kids Smart vitamins are specifically formulated to help give your children the adequate levels of vital Omega-3 Fish Oil nutrients DHA and EPA. This can help support and maintain healthy brain function, eye health, and nervous system health. They also support learning as well as healthy behavior and temperament in some children
There has also been linked research that DHA can help with mental health wellness.
The Kids Smart Hi DHA Fish Oil Burstlets are specially formulated to be much higher in DHA than average vitamins made for kids.
Kids Smart High Dha Fish Overview
One important fact about this vitamin is that it’s free of many common allergens.
It’s gluten-free, dairy-free and both yeast and wheat free. Which in my household is a big deal with such a variety of food allergies to deal with.
I’ll admit when I first received the bottle and popped a few fish out, I got nervous.

When I saw those bright redfish, I instantly assumed the product had food dyes.
A quick look at the bottle gave me instant relief. Dye-free!
My oldest is NOT to have red dye, as it messes with his behavioral choices. So seeing that these fish oil capsules were dye-free was a big deal for this mama!
These particular fish oil vitamins are unlike any of the ones I’ve tried in the past for my kids.
Usually, I grab gummy vitamins just because of how easy they are for the kids to take.
These ARE NOT gummy vitamins. I also personally wouldn’t even consider them chewables.
Instead, they are more of an easy way to administer a liquid vitamin to kids.
That’s because of the unique “burstlet” design. (I’ll explain that more in just a moment.)
Of course, it doesn’t matter how great the vitamins are if you can’t get your kids to willingly take them.
So that leads up to…
Will the Kids Actually Take the Kids Smart Fish Oil Vitamins?
The most important question of all when it comes to choosing a kids vitamin.
Will kids actually take these without a fight?
So let me start by saying the first time I gave these little fish a go, was a terrible fail.
I handed them each a fish and told them to chew.
Which was proceded with a few quick bites, and then both of my children running to the trash.
At this point I was seriously worried these babies were going to be a fail.
But then I actually read the back of the bottle and realized that they recommend cutting the tails off and squeezing the liquid into your kid’s mouth.
Now, don’t get me wrong, the fish are totally edible, casing and all. But when I tried them, I can see how the texture can be unsettling for some kids.
Especially super picky ones like mine.
But when we went for round 2, I cut the tails off and convinced them to try again.

The second time went fine. They weren’t thrilled with the taste but weren’t disgusted either.
But after a couple of days, this has quickly become an excitable treat in our house along with their gummy multivitamin.
They seriously beg for their little daily “fishy.”
I have to admit, I love that I don’t have to search for a spoon each day to give them their vitamin and it doesn’t have to be stored in the fridge.
And after nearly a month of daily use, I feel confident that they are getting the extra nutrients they need for their brain development.
And since I reviewed the product, they are giving me a coupon code for my readers to use if they’d like to give it a try too!
